Happy Birthday, Sanada Genichirou

Even thought this is a bit early, I thought I would just post to wish Sanada a happy birthday for the 21st of May, since I probably wouldn't have time in a few days. He's one of my favorite character and even though he's kinda weird with his hobbies and all that, I still love him. He is the fukubuchou (vice-captain) of Rikkai Dai Fuzoku since his second year in junior high. He's also the chairman of the prefects committee. He likes to meditate, do muscle training and do kendo and his fave. food is........ meat and this type of miso soup that I can't translate into English.

So, anyway, I really do love Sanada even though he loves slapping people. His dedication to Yukimura is admirable, although, fans (like me) would often like to interpret it as more than friendship. However, friendship or something more, Yukimura and Sanada are the best combination of buchou and fukubuchou. Together, they lead a champion team and who cares if Seigaku beat them. Because in the end, we all know it is FOR SURE that Rikkai will win the next nationals.

So... continuing on about Sanada. According to the 40.5 fanbook, he carries a 12kg rock around and that his cap is given to him by his grandfather... >< and he wakes up at four every morning... AND... he had actually SLAPPED YUKIMURA once... omg...

Happy Birthday, Sanada Genichirou. May you and Yukimura live forever.

And yes, I included the very first picture I drew of Sanada~ Happy birthday~ <3<3

Yukimura Seiichi album - Shinjitsu

Shinjitsu, by Yukimura Seiichi/Nagai Sachiko, is the nineteenth (XIX) album of the best of rivals series. This song, in my opinion, is really sad... just like most of the Yukimura songs... I think it relates to the period when he was sick and how he tries to find answers. The most touching part (I almost want to cry at this part) is when he says:

'Sotto te no hira hiraku, yume ga koboreochiru you, oto mo naku. Ase ni kakusu namida, Yureteita kokoro mo. Tomo ni sou, norikoetekita ne.'

For the english translation of that quote, please look at the lyrics below... but another part that was really nice was at the last part of teh song when he mentions that he found his answer with you (kimi-tachi). I hope that was referring to his team... especially Sanada~

In episode 127, Yukimura said:

"If you take tennis from me, nothing remains.
For tennis is my life."

This quote, relating to his character, is one of the most touching that I've ever heard. And Nagai Sachiko quoted this line at the beginning of the voice message at the end of the CD. She said she never thought she would be able to release a CD and that strange things can happen if you live long enough (which I think is very appropiate for Yukimura). She wondered if Yukimura's passionate feelings reached out to us through his song. Nagai-san then said how happy she was that Yukimura's surgery was a success and that he was going to live, because when she first voiced him, she sounded so dark that she was afraid the was going to die. The director told her to sound stronger and recently, she said she's been thinking of being stronger for Yukimura, since he is the Rikkaidai captain afterall. She said this had been her first voice acting role, but she also worked as a stage actress. (Because of that...) She would always kind of become whoever it was that she's playing... and thinks that is the reason why she's been acting serene lately - an influence of Yukimura.

Truth (eng.)
As I stand here alone
I watch the sun setting in the distance
Vivid memories of seasons past
Shine for eternity

And even now, these heated emotions remain here
As the ripples coursing from my passionate beat
Reverberate deeply, speaking to me
Of my true heart

Almost bewildering, these feelings so strong
As the sky spreads over, it envelopes me
And we should let go of these passing times
With our true heart

I gently open the palm of my hand
And my dreams spill over, without a sound
Tears hidden, within my sweat
And my wavering heart
Together have come thus far

And even now, these pressing emotions remain here
As I seek for my source of strength
I find my answer with you by my side
And with true courage

They are by my side, these heated emotions
And the strength of my glimmering passion
Speaks to me, each to each
Of my true heart

And even now, these heated emotions remain here
As the ripples coursing from my passionate beat
Reverberate deeply, speaking to me
Of my true heart

Almost bewildering, these feelings so strong
As the sky spreads over, it envelopes me
And we should let go of these passing times
With our true heart

And even now, these pressing emotions remain here
As I seek for my source of strength
I find my answer with you by my side
And with true courage

They are by my side, these heated emotions
And the strength of my glimmering passion
Speaks to me, each to each
Of my true heart

Happy Birthday, Marui Bunta

Well, it's the 20th April and it's Happy Birthday to our volleying genius. Marui, according to the Japanese school age system (where the grade accepts people from this year April to next year March)*, should be the oldest of the team. Hard to imagine, though.

Marui is the oldest brother of three and that is perhaps where he gets his cute and childish habits from... His excessive eating habits doesn't make him fat and I really wonder how he does it, since his sugar level is at 116mg/dl (normal people are usually at 80~100mg/dl).

And out of everyone on the team, I really couldn't believe Marui would be in 3-B, since he looks kinda 'not-the-studying-type'. It's logical that Sanada and Yagyuu would be in 3-A, but Marui and Niou is 3-B with Yanagi in 3-F... that's just ridiculous - just like how Marui-Jackal got beaten in the nationals the moment Oishi-Kikumaru entered Synchro.

Sanada Genichirou album - Meisei

Sanada's album - Meisei was the 20th album (XX) of the best of rivals CDs released. It was sung by Kusunoki Taiten - Sanada's Seiyuu. This song sounds very nice with Kusunoki-san's deep voice and I think the theme of victory throughout the song is excatly like Sanada. Personally, I think this song is kinda sad, since it was all about determination and victory. That would seem strange to be sad about, but the reason behind it is that in the end, Rikkai loses and I really can't imagine him facing defeat. But, I'm sure he'll get over it.

Below are the lyrics to the song - Meisei

MEISEI (jap.)

Owari no nai tatakai tachi hadakaru nami yori mo
Takaku umi yori hiroku mieru wa shouri no futamoji

Makete wa naranu donna shoubu goto mo moeyuru toushi wo butsuke
Oretachi no akaki eikan doryoku nashi de wa kachi enai

Hate shinai ouja no na to shouri no uta wa itsumademo
Kono sekaichuu ni sae todorokase you oretachi no koe wo

Kakenukeru kono michi wo dare mo ga tachikirenu darou
Toki ni shinnen yue ni dakyou nado yurusarenai

Masa ni joushou wo yuruginai yakusoku chii wo mamoru koto wa
Chuutohanpa na kimochi ja mamori kireya shinai ouja

Dokomademo hirogaru na wa sou kantan ni wa kuzurenai
Kono sekaichuu ni sae todorokase you shouri no kaze wo

Hate shinai ouja no na to shouri no uta wa itsumademo

Dokomademo hirogaru na wa sou kantan ni wa kuzurenai
Kono sekaichuu ni sae todorokase you oretachi no koe wo
Shouri no kaze wo ouja no gotoku

MEISEI (eng.)

A fight with no end Confronts us more than a wave
Up high, broader than the ocean What can be seen is the two letters of victory*

Loss can not be forgiven No matter what kind of fight Throwing burning fighting spirit
Our red crown It cannot be achieved without effort

With the everlasting name of the champion and The song of victory Forever
Even to throughout this world Let it resound all over Our voices

Running through this road No one should be able to cut it off
At times because of belief Compromise so forth Won't be excused

Exactly ever victorious Solid promise To protect a position
With a sensation of half measures It cannot be protected: champion

The name which spreads to anywhere Will not so easily Fall to pieces
Even to throughout this world Let it resound all over The wind of victory

With the everlasting name of the champion and The song of victory Forever

The name which spreads to anywhere Will not so easily Fall to pieces
Even to throughout this world Let it resound all over Our voices
The wind of victory Like champions

(*) = 'Shouri'; Victory is 2 characters in Jap

Happy Birthday, Nagai Sachiko

Yesterday was the birthday of Nagai Sachiko-san, Yukimura's seiyuu. I'm one day too late, but at least I posted this up, eventually.

She is one of the seiyuu whose voice I really appreciate. And actually sounding like a guy (not in a bad way, of course) even when singing, which I think is great since heaps of female seiyuu voicing male characters sound very much out of the character they are posing for, when they do the character songs. She has her blog - sachin blog and is part of the theatre group called Bulldog Headlog. She is 163cm, O blood type and is born in the Kagoshima Prefacture.
